- Opinions of Former Crop Sciences Students
- Every year, graduating seniors in the Department of Crop Sciences
participate in an exit interview with the teaching coordinator. They
are urged to speak candidly and honestly about their experiences and
opinions concerning their undergraduate experience.
- Undergraduate Concentrations within Crop Sciences
- Every undergraduate in Crop Sciences chooses an concentration
(or specialization) of study. There are six concentrations to
choose from: Agroecology, Biological Sciences, Crop Agribusiness,
Crops, Plant Biotechnology, and Plant Protection. Each offers a unique
curriculum and an opportunity for students to specialize in a particular
area in Crop Sciences.
- Financial Aid
- Several
scholarships are awarded each year by the Department of Crop Sciences (applications
are due in October).The
College of ACES has more than 100 scholarships available. Grants
and loans are also available through the Office
of Student Financial Aid based on income level and need. (Contact
the Office of Student Financial Aid about filing a FAFSA.)
- Housing
- There is a wide variety of housing
options available to students. First year students (with a few
exceptions) are required to live in University
Residence Halls, Private
Certified Housing, or a fraternity or sorority house. Returning
students are welcome to live at University Residence Halls or Private
Certified Housing, but may also live in apartments and houses not
associated with the University, as well as in fraternity and sorority
houses.
- Student Employment
- Many students in Crop sciences hold part-time positions in departmental
research programs during the school year. Students are also encouraged
to participate in internships (usually in the summer). Internships
are excellent opportunities to learn about future job opportunities,
develop valuable skills, and earn money. Students seeking employment
for the school year or summer may also use the Virtual
Job Board to view listings for jobs through the University that
are both on and off campus.
