To aid in the promotion of faculty and student interactions in the department, the ambassadors have taken it upon themselves to interview our faculty members and bring you all of the information you ever wanted to know about our loyal faculty.

Presenting : Dr. Frederic L. Kolb

Dr. Frederic L. Kolb
Responsibilities:
  • Undergraduate Teaching Coordinator - he enjoys being the Teaching Coordinator because he gets to interact more with the students and he is able to meet with and recruit new students
  • Research Emphasis in Plant Breeding and Genetics specializing in wheat and oats
  • Teaches - CPSC 453 and CPSC 498
He has been with the U of I since:
  • 1987
Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Penn State
  • Completed grad school at Penn State in Agronomy, while working full time for the U.S.D.A. in plant breeding
Before he dies - he would like to:
  • Go Fly fishing in Montana
Favorite Thing About the U of I and College of ACES:
  • It has the atmosphere of a small college with the benefits of a large university
Extra Info:
  • He grew up in rural western Pennsylvania
  • He has two sons
